Serving New Orleans for 80 years, Mistretta’s Produce began in 1940 with Leon Mistretta, Sr. and his five brothers, Frank, Emile, Louie, Steve, and Roy, Sr. Operating from a garage converted to a walk-in cooler, Leon Mistretta ran Mistretta’s Produce from his home for 10 years and was then taken over in 1947, by Roy Mistretta, Sr.
In 1989, Roy Mistretta, Jr. took over the company and is keeping the family tradition alive. After Hurricane Katrina, Mistretta’s Produce moved to the French Market and continued to operate there for 12 years. Moving from the French Quarter to New Orleans East in 2016, Mistretta’s now operates from a 10,000 square foot warehouse with over 5,000 square feet of cooler space. Mistretta’s Produce continues to serve the Greater New Orleans area delivering 6 days a week to New Orleans, Metairie, the Westbank, Hammond, Covington, Mandeville, Slidell, and Picayune, MS.
Today, Roy’s niece, Christina Jeansonne, is currently the Vice President and Operations Manager. Providing the highest quality of produce combined with outstanding customer service, Mistretta’s Produce continues to proudly serve restaurants, bars, and ship chandlers. As 2020 brought COVID-19, Mistretta’s Produce again branched out, and now is proud to provide home delivery service to individuals.
Mistretta’s has undergone many changes in the last 80 years and looks forward continuing a family business that has spanned 3 generations.
